IL's English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes:

The International Link (IL) Morning Classes: ESL Classes open to any interested internationals in the Augusta area.

  • Classes meet from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. every Wednesday.

The International Link Evening Classes at Georgia Regents University: ESL Classes for staff, students and family members affiliated with Georgia Regents University.

  • Classes meet from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. every Wednesday.

Fairview Presbyterian Church: ESL Classes open to any interested internationals in the Augusta/North Augusta area.

  • Classes meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursdays 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
  • Fairview Presbyterian Church, 1101 Carolina Ave North Augusta, SC. (map). Classes meet at downstairs of the Fellowship Hall building, Carolina Ave. entrance.
  • Classes meet year-round.

Other community ESL resources:

Augusta Technical College: Offers a free English as a Second Language Class through the Adult Education Program. Different levels of profiency are taught, Beginner through Advanced. Classes are taught on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9 p.m. For more information, contact The Office of Adult Education at 706-771-4131 or email fperry@augustatech.edu. Classes are also offered Monday through Thursday, 5 - 8 p.m. at the Columbia County campus, 3500 John Huffman Way, Grovetown, GA 30813. Contact: 706-651-7375.

First Baptist Church of Augusta: Offers a free English language program (levels 1-4) emphasizing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for interested students, meeting on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 am., in the Adult Education Building, 3500 Walton Way Extension, Augusta, GA.  Books ($22.00) and optional audiotapes are at cost.  From 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, students with basic reading and writing skills can attend Citizenship class, Bible Study, Life Skills class and Basic Computer class.  Contact Elizabeth Chao, Mission Secretary,(EChao@fbcaugusta.org) or by calling the church office at 706-733-2236 for further details. First Baptist Church of North Augusta: Offers free Conversational English classes for all interested internationals. Classes are currently meeting on Sundays from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and Wednesdays from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.  All classes meet in the Elizabeth Strom Education Building, 604 Georgia Ave., North Augusta, SC. Fleming Baptist Church: offers free English language classes from 1:30-3:00 p.m. on Mondays at 3027 Peach Orchard Rd., Augusta, GA. Classes follow the school year calendar and meet August through May. Please call the church at 706-798-3511 or see the church's website at www.flemingbaptist.org for further information.

True North Church: Offers free ESL classes to any interested internationals in the Augusta area. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. There will be no classes in June or July. Meets at Helms College in the Goodwill shopping center in Student Services building, 3145 Washington Road, Martinez, GA 30907 (map). Warren Baptist Church of Augusta: Offers a free English language program emphasizing conversational English and grammar for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Meeting each Sunday in September through May from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Rd., Augusta, GA. Park in the rear of the church and enter through the "Welcome Center" entrance, then follow signs for the English/ESL Class. Family Y Grovetown: Offers a free English language program emphasizing conversational English and grammar for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Meeting each Sunday beginning mid-August through May from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Family Y Grovetown, 218 Partnership Drive, Grovetown, GA.
