IL's English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes:

The International Link (IL) Offices: ESL Classes open to any interested internationals in the Augusta area.

  • Classes meet from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. every Wednesday.
  • Classes resume January 4th.
  • No ESL classes in August.

Georgia Health Sciences University (formerly MCG): ESL Classes for staff, students and family members affiliated with Georgia Health Sciences University.

  • Classes meet from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. every Wednesday.
  • Classes resume January 4th.
  • No ESL classes in August.

Fairview Presbyterian Church: ESL Classes open to any interested internationals in the Augusta/North Augusta area.

  • Classes meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Fairview Presbyterian Church, 1101 Carolina Ave North Augusta, SC. (map). Classes meet at the Butler House directly across from the sanctuary (144 Butler Avenue).

Augusta Korean Methodist Church: Offers an English language program especially for Korean students at all levels. The program is on  Mondays & Wednesdays from TBD to TBD at the church, 2641 Barton Chapel Rd., Augusta, GA. The cost is $20 each month for materials. Augusta State University: ASU offers developmental English courses designed for non-native English speakers that focus primarily on reading and writing. Students must meet the qualifying TOEFL scores. These courses are eligible for the GHSU Tuition Remission program. Augusta Technical College: Offers a free English as a Second Language Class through the Adult Education Program. Different levels of profiency are taught, Beginner through Advanced. "English Lite" -- GHSU Lunchtime English Chat Sessions: English Lite is a fun and relaxing way to improve your vocabulary skills without the pressure of a formal classroom setting. Saint Paul Gaffney is an experienced English language instructor with an M.A. in EFL/ESL. He hosts a free conversational English chat session every Thursday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at GHSU, Room CJ-3302, Pavilion 3 (bring your own lunch!). This is an informal opportunity to enhance your English conversational, listening, and reading skills.  Beginners to advanced students are welcome. You will not be judged by your skill level, but will be encouraged to learn and improve by interacting with facilitators and peers. First Baptist Church of Augusta: Offers a free English language program emphasizing speaking and listening skills for interested students, meeting on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the Adult Education Building, 3500 Walton Way Extension, Augusta, GA. The books costs from $20 to $30 depending on class level (levels 1-4, including Toefl preparation). They also offer a Citizenship class during the same time period, as well as a Bible study. First Baptist Church of North Augusta: Offers a free Conversational English class for all interested internationals. Fleming Baptist Church: offers free English language classes from 1:30 - 4 pm on Mondays at 3027 Peach Orchard Rd., Augusta, GA. Please call the church at 706-798-3511 for further information.

True North Church: Offers free ESL classes to any interested internationals in the Augusta area. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., beginning on October 4th. Meets at Goodwill, 4074 Washington Road, Martinez, GA 30907 (map). Classes are free and you will be able to purchase the book you need (if desired) at the class. Questions? Warren Baptist Church of Augusta: Offers a free English language program emphasizing conversational English and grammar for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Meeting Sundays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Rd., Augusta, GA. Park in the rear of the church and enter through the "Welcome Center" entrance, then follow signs for the English/ESL Class.
